MANILA, Philippines - If elections were held today, re-electionist senators Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. and Jose "Jinggoy" Estrada would top the race according to the latest pre-election survey conducted by Social Weather Stations.
The March 19-22 survey showed Revilla leading all senatorial candidates with 53%, closely followed by Estrada with 52%.
Coming in third is Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago with 44%; followed by Sen. Pia Cayetano with 42%. The new SWS poll showed a 9-point dip in Cayetano's ratings. A February 24-28 survey showed the re-electionist senator placing 2nd in the race with 51%.
Sen. Franklin Drilon landed fifth in the latest poll with 36%; followed by Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile with 35%.
Former senator Vicente Sotto III got 33%; followed by former National Economic and Development Authority director general Ralph Recto and Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., with 30% each.
Re-electionist Sen. Manuel Lapid was 10th with 26%, followed by former senator Sergio Osmeña III with 25%.
Nacionalista Party spokesman and former Cavite congressman Gilbert Remulla made it to the “Magic 12” with 24%.
The survey, commissioned by BusinessWorld, used face-to-face interviews with 2,100 respondents. With a report from The Philippine Star
